The assistant fireplace chief of La Habra Heights was arrested on suspicion of impersonating a peace officer and unlawfully detaining motorists, authorities confirmed.

Timothy Peel, 34, was arrested Thursday by deputies serving a search warrant within the 15000 block of Danbrook Drive close to Whittier, in keeping with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Division.

Detectives from the division’s Public Corruption Unit had been investigating stories of somebody impersonating an officer and falsely imprisoning individuals, and so they recognized Peel because the suspect, deputies stated.

Investigators allege he used a white 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD outfitted with lights and a siren to conduct visitors stops and illegally detain motorists.

Peel was booked into jail at 8:15 a.m. and was launched at 3:55 p.m. on $100,000 bond, Sheriff’s Division inmate data present.

La Habra Heights Mayor Dennis Laherty declined to remark Thursday evening.

The case can be introduced to the Los Angeles County district legal professional’s workplace for consideration. Peel’s subsequent court docket date is Jan. 31 at Downey Courthouse.
