To the editor: State Sen. Richard Pan’s (D-Sacramento) invoice requiring COVID-19 vaccinations for all Ok-12 college students is important. (“Get extra youngsters vaccinated towards COVID, sure, however two payments want extra work,” editorial, Jan. 26)

COVID-19 isn't innocent for youths, particularly now. In January 2021, youngsters accounted for simply 1.6% of all COVID-19 hospitalizations nationally; immediately, that quantity is 6%. The demise of a 15-month-old from the virus was reported in L.A. County this week.

Greater than 140,000 youngsters have misplaced a caregiver to COVID-19. Greater than 6,400 have the longer-term inflammatory syndrome that may devastate very important organs.

In distinction, with greater than 22 million youngsters vaccinated on this nation, the COVID-19 vaccines have confirmed terribly secure and efficient.

Vaccination is an easy lifesaving act that protects the kid, their grandparents and their child siblings. It protects the third grader with leukemia and the lunch girl with most cancers. Let’s hold our colleges open and secure, our academics educating and all of our youngsters wholesome and vaccinated.

To the editor: Pan’s invoice is a knee-jerk response to a virus that has proven itself to be ever-changing. We're possible years away from totally understanding the virus’ long-term results on each adults and kids. Our response to it must be considerate, measured and simply as versatile because the virus itself.

How does it make sense to mandate a vaccine immediately that will quickly must be modified? Will we give the state Legislature carte blanche to mandate any vaccine it desires, even when the vaccine has not been totally authorized by the U.S. Meals and Drug Administration?

We should always not drive vaccines on youngsters or hold them out of college. We already know the damages this causes to our younger individuals. That is wrong-headed pondering, and this laws ought to be stopped.

For the report, I'm not anti-vaccine.

To the editor: The argument that a harder vaccine mandate to attend college removes the best of fogeys to make medical choices for his or her youngsters is fallacious.

Dad and mom will nonetheless have the best to make this medical selection for his or her youngsters; they only gained’t have the best to withhold vaccinations from their youngsters and ship them to highschool in-person.

California has many choices for schooling. There are on-line and homeschooling choices.

To the editor: I confirmed my husband the candy picture of a younger schoolgirl about to get vaccinated and mentioned, “Aw, she seems like she’s asking the nurse if it’s going to harm.”

My husband replied drily, “Sure, though she’s braver than quite a lot of cops.”

To the editor: Youngsters aren’t born political, illiberal or racist. Simply have a look at college playgrounds throughout the nation.

Dad and mom who don't enable their youngsters to be vaccinated towards COVID-19 are placing their political ideologies earlier than the well being and security of their youngsters. This time, let the youngsters be the adults within the room.
