A 15-year-old boy driving a bicycle on a Riverside road was struck and killed Tuesday evening, and authorities are trying to find the driving force of a darkish pickup truck who fled the scene.

The collision occurred round 9:30 p.m. close to Principal and Poplar streets, the Riverside Police Division mentioned.

The bicyclist was recognized Wednesday by the Riverside County Coroner’s Workplace as Colton resident Javier Gonzalez. Police mentioned he sustained main accidents and died on the scene.

Police imagine the driving force was touring south on Principal Avenue when she or he struck Gonzalez, who was touring north in the course of the street.

“The driving force of the pickup truck did not cease after the collision and fled the scene,” police mentioned in a information launch.

Video confirmed a number of officers and a bunch of distraught younger boys on the scene. A battered bicycle tire lay within the street.

It's unknown whether or not medicine or alcohol performed a task within the collision.

Anybody with data is requested to name Riverside Police Division site visitors Det. Jeff Derouin at (951) 826-8722.
