To the editor: Not solely is security an issue on Metro trains and buses, however the lack of cleanliness can also be disturbing. A current expertise left me so disgusted with the filthy situations on the Purple/Purple traces that I complained to Metro and several other board members. (“Even with hovering gasoline costs, security considerations make L.A. mass transit a tough promote,” March 11)

I've been a champion of public transportation in Los Angeles since transferring right here from the San Francisco Bay Space nearly six years in the past. Now the trains are stuffed with urine, human excrement, rubbish and marijuana smoke. The pleasant cops are nowhere in sight, and there are not any Metro employees save the struggling prepare operator.

There is no such thing as a manner I'll trip Metro to work after I begin going into the workplace subsequent month. I’d be stunned if there's a Metro board member who rides.

To the editor: The principle drawback with public transit just isn't a lot crime or filthy buses, however inefficiency. Metro may need trendy know-how for monitoring buses, but it surely doesn't work for riders.

As a rider, I can inform you that we are able to make good use of our time even when buses are late — if monitoring have been reliable.
