Railway cleaners are to stage a contemporary strike in a dispute over pay.
Members of the Rail, Maritime and Transport union (RMT) who clear trains and stations throughout London and the south east will stroll out for 48 hours on March 11.
The cleaners, employed by contractors Churchill, are campaigning for a wage fee of £15 an hour and to be made direct workers of the railways.
It will likely be the second bout of strike motion, affecting Thameslink, Southern and Nice Northern, Southeastern, Eurostar and HS1 companies.
RMT basic secretary Mick Lynch stated: “Churchill’s remedy of cleansing employees who've risked their well being and security to work all through the pandemic is a shame."
“Staff on low pay are a lot worse off now than 12 months in the past. We is not going to cease campaigning or taking strike motion till there's a simply settlement and these outsourced staff are purchased on to the railways as direct workers of the practice working corporations.”
The Tube was suspended throughout Tuesday’s rush hour, with only some companies working later within the day. Additional disruption will observe on Thursday.
