His feedback had been echoed by Falkland Islands authorities consultant to the UK and Europe Richard Hyslop, who mentioned: “Relating to Brexit, as issues stand, there aren't any apparent advantages to the Falkland Islands. There are nevertheless quite a few challenges.”

Mr Hyslop mentioned the EU is the primary marketplace for the Falkland Islands’ fishery exports, with exports accounting for “greater than 50% of our GDP”, and “was an essential marketplace for meat exports”.

Mr Hyslop mentioned the Falkland Islands authorities was “exploring a variety of choices” “how we now have these tariffs eliminated”.

He mentioned: “This isn't a simple job, however we stay assured that in some unspecified time in the future we might be profitable.

“Now we have already made some restricted progress in having the tariff quickly eliminated in a small share of our exports.”
