Hip hop DJ Tim Westwood denies sexual misconduct claims

Veteran hip hop DJ and radio presenter Tim Westwood “strongly rejects all allegations of wrongdoing” after he was accused of sexual misconduct and predatory behaviour by a number of ladies.

In allegations made to the BBC and the Guardian, the previous BBC Radio 1 DJ, 64, is alleged to have misused his place within the music trade to make the most of seven ladies who have been of their late teenagers or early 20s on the time.

Three ladies have accused the DJ of opportunistic and predatory sexual behaviour, whereas 4 others allege they have been groped by him at occasions, based on the Guardian.

An announcement from a consultant to the PA information company stated: “Tim Westwood strongly denies all allegations of inappropriate behaviour.

“In a profession that has spanned 40 years, there have by no means been any complaints made in opposition to him formally or unofficially.

“Tim Westwood strongly rejects all allegations of wrongdoing.”

The DJ, who's the son of Invoice Westwood, the previous Anglican Bishop of Peterborough who died in 1999, started his profession with native radio earlier than becoming a member of Capital Radio in London and was later given his personal present by BBC Radio 1.

He was injured in a drive-by taking pictures in Kennington, South London, on July 18 1999, which left him in hospital.

In 2013, Westwood left BBC Radio 1 and BBC Radio 1Xtra after almost 20 years and returned to Capital Radio.

He presents a daily present on Saturday nights on Capital Xtra, the place he's known as “The Huge Dawg”.

Usually cited as an inspiration for Sacha Baron Cohen’s fictional Ali G character, Westwood introduced the MTV UK automotive makeover present Pimp My Trip UK, which ran for 3 seasons from 2005 to 2007.

The ladies, who've remained nameless, will element their allegations in a documentary, Tim Westwood: Abuse of Energy, which airs on BBC Three at 9pm on Tuesday.
