Army investigating after Twitter and YouTube accounts hacked

The British Military has confirmed a “breach” of its Twitter and YouTube accounts.

An investigation is beneath method after each official websites appeared to have been hacked.

The Military’s YouTube channel featured movies on cyptocurrency and pictures of billionaire businessman Elon Musk.

The official Twitter account had retweeted a lot of posts showing to narrate to NFTs.

NFT stands for non-fungible token. An NFT is a definite cryptographic token that can not be replicated, which acts as a certificates of possession for digital objects.

At one stage, the account identify was modified to Bapesclan and the profile image was an ape-like cartoon determine in clownish make-up.

The Twitter account was restored to regular by Sunday night.

A tweet posted afterwards learn: “Apologies for the momentary interruption to our feed. We'll conduct a full investigation and be taught from this incident. Thanks for following us and regular service will now resume.”

The YouTube account additionally appeared to have its normal movies restored.

An Military spokesperson mentioned they have been conscious “of a breach of the Military’s Twitter and YouTube accounts and an investigation is beneath method.”

They mentioned data safety is taken “extraordinarily critically”, and added: “Till the investigation is full it might be inappropriate to remark additional”.

Conservative MP Tobias Ellwood mentioned what had occurred “seems to be severe”.
