The Santa Cruz County Sheriff-Coroner’s Workplace recognized three individuals Monday who have been killed when two planes collided Thursday over Watsonville Municipal Airport, east of Santa Cruz.
The collision was reported round 3 p.m. as two planes appeared to be approaching the airport for a touchdown.
All three individuals concerned within the crash, two pilots and a passenger, have been killed. They have been recognized as Carl Kruppa, 75, of Winton, Nannette Plett-Kruppa, 67, of Winton and Stuart Camenson, 32, of Santa Cruz, the sheriff-coroner stated in a launch.
“Our deepest condolences are with the households of these concerned,” the company stated.
Officers didn't state which of the victims have been pilots and who was the passenger.
The planes have been recognized final week by the Federal Aviation Administration as a single-engine Cessna 152 and a twin-engine Cessna 340. The only-engine airplane was carrying solely a pilot on the time of the collision, whereas the twin-engine airplane carried a pilot and passenger.
Pictures from the town of Watsonville confirmed the wreckage of 1 airplane in a badly broken hangar, and photographs from KCBS-TV Channel 2 confirmed one other airplane in a discipline.
The FAA and the Nationwide Transportation Security Board are investigating the crash.
