Whereas the 74th Emmy Awards ceremony, which begins at 5 p.m. Pacific (stay on NBC and streaming on Peacock), marks the beginning of an awards season that can stretch till mid-March, stylephiles, fashionistas and sharp-tongued observers know the true competitors begins two hours earlier, when the present earlier than the present — the crimson carpet arrivals — begins.
