To the editor: The politicians right this moment who undermine democracy by supporting the Senate filibuster dishonor the reminiscence of each American soldier who fought and died at Normandy in France and the opposite World Struggle II battlefields. These troopers knew very properly who the enemy was — and it wasn’t democracy. (“President Biden urges filibuster adjustments to guard voting rights,” Jan. 11)
These similar politicians must be required to go to the graves of the troopers who died in Europe defending the world towards the nightmare that fascist leaders unleashed.
The gravestones on the Normandy American Cemetery stretch into the horizon in neat rows of white marble stone. They're reminders of the last word sacrifice these courageous women and men made so future generations would have the freedoms and liberties enshrined in our democratic establishments.
These courageous troopers fought and lots of of them died to protect democracy. They didn't struggle and die to protect the filibuster.

To the editor: This isn’t nearly voting rights or President Biden retaining a marketing campaign promise to his base. Altering the Senate’s filibuster rule to permit a easy vote on a invoice defending poll entry will safeguard our democracy, which is presently below assault, actually in addition to politically.
No matter one’s political persuasion, it shouldn't be contested that the filibuster may be, and is being, weaponized. A carve-out for voting rights will solely set a precedent for future exploitation by an opposing social gathering.
However, will a failure to attempt to enact voting protections make the duty of preserving our democracy the next and steeper climb?

To the editor: Biden spoke of needing to alter voting guidelines.
So inform me, who has been disenfranchised from voting? Who, truly, was simply not curious about voting? I ask as a result of I hold listening to increasingly individuals are voting, which makes it a lie that individuals are being disenfranchised.
And inform me additionally, if demanding an ID to vote is so onerous, why are we requested to point out an ID with our vaccination playing cards?
