To the editor: Alcoholic beverage advertisers received’t present an individual sipping a beer on TV, however automobile firms can and do present glossy, new, overpowered vehicles dashing, burning rubber and careening to upbeat music tracks. (“Unsafe speeds and reckless driving: Lethal Windsor Hills wreck ‘is the tip of the iceberg,’” Aug. 19)

I don’t assume a child of 16 will heed the unreadable warnings on the finish of the spots that the stunts are performed by skilled drivers. “Don't do that at house” on the finish of a TV industrial is hardly a deterrent to the auto idiots.

Quite a few intersections with tire tracks and skid marks from road takeovers are grim reminders of this ridiculously irresponsible conduct.

As an ex-adman, I hate to put blame on the advertisers, however one thing should be performed. Perhaps there must be a restrict on horsepower on metropolis streets.

It’s easy: Irresponsible promoting is inflicting deaths.

To the editor: There's a low-tech and cost-effective answer to excessive speeds on the street that can resolve extra issues than lowering velocity limits or putting in costly cameras. I’m speaking about velocity bumps, and never simply in residential neighborhoods, however on any roads the place individuals race their vehicles.

It’s bodily not possible to go quick the place there are velocity bumps and never hit your head on the ceiling of your automobile. I would definitely set up velocity bumps wherever there are gangs of drivers closing off streets and doing donuts.

My answer, nevertheless, might be manner too easy for our civic leaders to wrap their heads round.
